Wooooo feb....I like feb as far as months go. Valentines day, the final endurance leg of summer (not a summerlover). Here's what I've been loving this month...
-The possibility of going to Chitown in March and eating cupcakes and felafel and farmers market goodness and red vines and everything else that awesome foodie epicentre holds
-Riverview butcher. The lovely Veronica actually put me onto this butcher and now I kinda alternate between here and Hudson's depending on whats convenient but they are really amazing. So friendly, lovely flavour and quality, even better prices and wait for the clincher... they cryovac!!!!So you can go once a week or whatever and literally get all your meat for the whole week (even more if you want) and keep it in your fridge till you are ready! I can't even get over how enthusiastic I am about this...completely revolutionises the idea of having to go to the butchers every 2 days...
- Sugar Plums. They are soo cute and cheap right now (they have them at Harris Farm for $5 a kg) and the most adorable little tasty plums ever. Dale is trying to convince me they become prunes which totally grosses me out because i'm not a prune lover. Just the word prune really..ugh.
-On the fruit topic we are reaching the final leg of seasonal fruit awesomeness...get peaches, nectarines and apricots while you can!the grapes and mangoes are pretty much on the way out already boo
-I think this was on my last food buys but Ryo's Noodles....the addiction is in full force. Can't. Stop. Tokyo style with corn is where it's at.
- Come Dine with Me nights.....being the party planner I have forced dale and family into CDWM nights. I went first to break the ice and pretty much hit a home run so now everyone is feeling a little apprehensive about taking me on but I have high expectations for dale's night..there's been alot of secret squirrel research going on. Will def post and take photo's when all is said and done!
- The raspberry mousse cake down at Baroque in the Rocks. It is sooooooo good it hurts. And bonus points cause when you eat it you just know that you can never and will never create anything even close to this masterpiece.
-Cadbury mini eggs....since my last rant about creme eggs I have since decided I speak truth...they are new and unimproved!!! so i've moved on to the little crunchy shelled eggs for my easter fix. They are the best and I challenge you not to eat the whole bag in one sitting! speaking of easter I walked past the $2 shop and saw all kinda of cute easter baskets and bunny ears and everything...now to find a victim to dress up....hmmm...like maybe, I don't know....dale!!!???
and a new addition to the food buys (or maybe just a special occasion addition) is Feb food NON BUYS!!!
There is really only one. As anyone who knows me is aware i'm the biggest zumbo groupie ever and in my eyes he can do no wrong..until now my friends. I have been scarred by the latest collection! There are many (as previously blogged) excellent choices atm but several of the most disgusting flavours I have ever encountered in my life lurking in there too.
Both items are so disgusting that they are equally ranked in the foul stakes. One is the cauliflower upside down cloud...sounds nice, even looks nice but there is this liquid smoke burnt flavour that is simply the worst thing I have ever come across and literally made me want to gag. Then we have a corn and mango concoction which is pretty much equal with eating chunky, slimy dirt. It was revolting with a capital R. Seriously...i'm sure this whole post is actually making you want to try them out of curiosity but seriously...don't do it!!!!!
These are the offenders:
